# Yealink TFTP recovery — partial notes

Review the TFTP recovery sequence recorded for a Yealink T54W. The vendor guide and firmware archive remain held, so this page does not supply the complete recovery materials.

These notes were recovered from OneNote. Configuration, permissions and operating results have not been freshly verified. Confirm the applicable authority and environment before acting.

The original note refers to a Yealink firmware-update PDF, which remains on asset review hold.

The source attributes this recovery sequence to an internal support conversation. The procedure and firmware applicability have not been independently validated.

Generally the recovery process for a device is to use a TFTP server with a firmware image to be loaded.

The TFTP server referenced in the source is: [TFTPD64 : an opensource IPv6 ready TFTP server/service for windows : TFTP server](https://pjo2.github.io/tftpd64/)

## Captured recovery sequence

The referenced Yealink guide is held. The text records these basic steps:

1. Get the tftp server running (make sure the firewall won't block the port - UDP 69). It should be available in the same VLAN as the phone
2. Get the firmware (the source used a T54W firmware archive, held here, with the image named T54W.rom) and put it in the TFTP server directory so it's available
3. Put the phone in Recovery mode (Disconnect power, hold down the speakerphone key, reconnect power, don't release that key until the recovery mode wizard appears)
4. Choose the TFTP option from the menu
5. Enter the IP details (a static IP, netmask and gateway for the phone + the TFTP server IP)
6. Press OK to continue

The phone should then download the firmware from the TFTP server, upgrade the device, initialise and (hopefully) connect and be provisioned for Laura.

The source says a failed recovery may display a reason; it supplies no further diagnostic sequence.

The source mentions USB recovery for some phones but favours TFTP. It does not establish compatibility for every phone model.
