# PIPS Services and Acronyms

Distinguish PIPS parent/carer authentication from PIPS+ staff and student account provisioning, and identify Edumate as their recorded source-data system.

**K12solutions** is the company behind the PIPS products.

**PIPS** = Parent ID Passport Service

PIPS is pronounced "pips"

**PIPS** This service allows Parents and Carers to login to Edumate/[CarerOrbit](../../review/Review-status.md#link-8478449121eb) using the authentication provider of their choice. For example, they can

- authenticate using Gmail, Facebook and other third party services.
- authenticate directly with Edumate as long as a password has been assigned to their Edumate account.

**Remember** that the email address used for the login **<u>must</u>** match the parent email address recorded in Edumate.

**PIPS+ = Parent ID Passport Service** **<u>Plus</u>**

**PIPS+ pronounced "PIPS Plus"**

This service provisions and deprovisions student and staff accounts in M365.

The source data that PIPS/PIPS+ uses comes from Edumate.
