You can run Fastvue on Windows or Linux (via Docker only), instead of Windows only as in the past. Windows is recommended by CCM, however - if you do not have a very good understanding of managing Linux servers, especially Docker, in particular expanding the size of storage if required, then choosing Windows will be much easier to work with if changes are required.
Create a Hyper-V VM (gen2) and configure with the recommended number of vCores and memory. Dynamic memory is supported (if using this, ensure your startup RAM is a multiple of 128MB; ensure your startup RAM is not too low; and do not make the minimum RAM too much smaller than the startup RAM).
All the usual recommendations for Hyper-V virtual machines apply here, with the added recommendations for the data disk:
- Try to ensure the data disk resides on your highest performance storage available
- Consider formatting the data disk as ReFS for improved IO performance and data integrity
- For improved IO performance, your data disk should not be auto-expanding
The installation of Fastvue will create firewall rules to allow incoming TCP and UDP traffic to all ports, if the process receiving the traffic is the Fastvue application. You may wish to restrict these ports.
