Similar to BIOS updates it is possible to install the same .intunewin apps that have been added to Intune. The process doesn't use Intune, it simply uses the same package, as DeployR understands .intunewin files.
- Create a new Content Item
- Give it an appropriate name.
- Select Application for the Purpose
- Select Single File for the Type
- Click Save
- Open the new content item and select New Version
- Give it a description if desired.
- Enter the Installation command line
- Always use pwsh.exe -file .\Install.ps1 for any powershell wrapped installers. This ensure PS7 is used.

- Ignore the Installation success codes. DeployR automatically adds 0 and 3010 for success.
- Click Save
- Edit your task sequence.
- Mouse over the Customizations group and click the New Group icon (small folder icon).
- Select the new group, and in the Properties tab give it a name of "App Installs"
- Mouse over the App Installs group folder and click the + plus symbol to add a new step to the group.
- Select Install Application to add a new step.
- Select the Install Application step and click the Select Content Item button.
- Select the Application content item created previously.
- Click Save all changes.
- Your app will now install during the imaging process.
The source favours Intune for application installation, however for very large apps this might be an option. It adds less value as apps are moved to Winget, as Winget will install from the cloud regardless (the source leaves Winget caching as an open question).
